Na twee bètareleases en kort na het verschijnen van Kodi 16.1 is de final van het Libre Embedded Linux Entertainment Center versie 7.0 uitgekomen. LibreELEC is ontstaan nadat een groot aantal ontwikkelaars bij OpenELEC wegens onenigheid vertrokken is en voor zichzelf zijn begonnen. Deze Linux-distributie is gebaseerd op Kodi en kan een computer tot een volwaardige htpc omtoveren. Versie 7.0 van LibreELEC gebruikt Kodi versie 16.1 als basis en kan gebruik maken van Docker-apps. LibreELEC (Jarvis) v7.0.0 RELEASE

It’s taken six weeks crammed with activity to reach this point. The LibreELEC collective has grown to approx. 45 people (someone needs to start a who’s who guide) and there’s generally been some rather cool things happening around us. Happy times indeed.

The v7.0.0 build contains Kodi Jarvis 16.1 (final) and a fix for some Verisign SSL certificate changes that impacted Pandora add-on users. It also addresses a bluez crash, a firmware update for Intel Skylake users, a fix for an Amlogic CEC issue on WeTek Play/Core. Most importantly it also contains our new logo branding. The website, forums, wiki, and social sites on Facebook and Twitter will be updated to showcase the same change in the next 48 hours.

This also marks the point when we deep-freeze the libreelec-7.0 branch. From this milestone forwards the only commits allowed will be bug and security fixes or addon maintenance. This approach ensures our nice stable release will remain a nice stable release. It also creates a stationary target for a growing number of downstream projects who use LibreELEC as the JeOS platform for their own releases. There will be a news post to highlight some of these collaborations in the near future.

In the past few days the Add-on repo has seen updates to Docker, Chromium, Tvheadend 4.2 and a few other Kodi add-ons. We also added a new “pi tools” bundle that contains RPi.GPIO, gpiozero and picamera.

De eerste bètarelease van Kodi versie 14.2 is uitgekomen. Kodi is de nieuwe naam voor XBMC Media Center en deze crossplatform-mediacentersoftware wordt ontwikkeld voor Windows, OS X, Linux, Android, iOS, AppleTV en de Raspberry Pi.

Versie 14.0, die codenaam Helix heeft gekregen, bevat naast de nieuwe naam geen grote veranderingen, maar wordt door de ontwikkelaars als een stability-release aangeduid. Wel is er een nieuwere versie van ffmpeg, waardoor nu ook het afspelen van h265-bestanden mogelijk is. In versie 14.2 zijn diverse problemen verholpen, waaronder de stabiliteitsproblemen die versies 14.0 en 14.1 onder Windows plaagden.

Kodi 14.2 Helix beta 1 – Some more fixes

We are proud to announce the first beta of Kodi 14.2 in which we further try to improve stability. As you may all know by now, we have a new name, a new logo, and a wide variety of new features, but underneath the new coat of paint remains the same software we all love. 14.2 beta 1 is the second of the small bugfix releases in the Helix range. As we have mentioned in our Kodi 14.0 release announcement, we will be releasing these to squash down any issues left after the first final release. Below you will find a list of fixes so far. In the Kodi 14.1 release announcement you can find the sum up of previous fixes done in the Helix range.

• Fix: Various bugs that were present in PVR add-ons.
• Feature: Bump OSX SDK to 10.10

Windows Finally, the bug that haunted us in the 14.0 and 14.1 release has been solved. Windows should be stable again and perform as it should.
