Gisteren is met rugnummer 2.4.2 een nieuwe versie uitgebracht in de stabiele tak van The GIMP. De naam van dit fotobewerkingsprogramma is een afkorting voor ’the GNU Image Manipulation Program’. De software is beschikbaar voor diverse besturingssystemen, waaronder Windows, FreeBSD, Linux, Mac OS X en Solaris. The GIMP wordt door velen beschouwd als de opensource tegenhanger van Adobe Photoshop en Paint Shop Pro, maar door het openen van vele schermen vraagt het wel enige gewenning. Het changelog van deze release laat de volgende veranderingen zien:
