XBMC Media Center 11.0 bèta 1

Zaterdag is de eerste bètarelease van versie 11.0 van XBMC Media Center uitgebracht. Deze crossplatform-mediacentersoftware wordt ontwikkeld voor Windows, Mac OS X, Linux en de eerste generatie Apple TV. De port voor de originele Xbox wordt niet meer door dit team onderhouden. Versie 11.0, die de codenaam Eden heeft meegekregen, bevat een groot aantal veranderingen. Zo kunnen installaties van plugins worden teruggedraaid, zijn er diverse verbeteringen aan de Confluence-skin aangebracht, zijn er flink wat prestatieverbeteringen waar te nemen en is er ondersteuning voor meer protocollen en hardware.

VMware clients voor Mac, Linux en Kindle Fire

vmware viewVMware introduceert nieuwe VMware View Clients voor Amazon Kindle Fire, Mac en Linux. De nieuwe clients voor Mac en Linux zijn er op dit moment nog in een ‘Tech Preview’ versie. VMware roemt PCoIP van de VMware View Clients, dat betere prestaties moet leveren via het netwerk. De Mac-versie ondersteunt de Lion Full Screen Mode. Mac-gebruikers kunnen eenvoudig switchen tussen hun Mac-applicaties en VMware View virtuele desktop met een ‘swipe’ op het ’trackpad’.
VMware View Client voor Linux zal in de komende weken beschikbaar komen in het Ubuntu Software Center, en de versie van de VMware View Client voor Android komt ook snel beschikbaar in de Amazon Appstore voor Android
