Finally the vSphere Client is supported on Windows 7 & Windows Server 2008 R2:

Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 support — This release adds support for 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7 as well as 64-bit Windows 2008 R2 as guest operating system platforms. In addition, the vSphere Client is now supported and can be installed on a Windows 7 platform.

Situation
Does the Novell Client work on 64-bit Windows operating systems?

Resolution
The current version of the Novell Client for Windows 2000/XP/2003 (4.91 SP5) is a 32 bit application, and is not supported on 64 bit operating systems.
The Novell Client 2 for Windows Vista/2008 supports the Microsoft Vista and Windows 2008 Server 32 and 64 bit operating systems.

The current projected release date for the Novell Client 2 SP1 for Windows is January 12, 2010. This Client will support the following operating systems (both 32-bit and 64-bit):

Windows Vista
Windows Server 2008
Windows 7
Windows Server 2008 R2

Additional Information
Novell has no plans to develop a client for Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 Edition or Windows XP Professional x64 Edition.

Team Xbmc brengt eerste bèta met nieuwe interface uit

Het team achter Xbmc heeft de eerste bèta van versie 9.11 van de mediacenter-software vrijgegeven. De nieuwe versie heeft onder andere een nieuw uiterlijk, en bij de Windows-versie wordt nu DirectX in plaats van OpenGL gebruikt.

Xbmc heeft vanaf versie 9.11, ‘Camelot’ gedoopt, de skin Confluence als standaard ingesteld. Die skin werd al langer met de software meegeleverd, maar stond nog niet als standaard ingesteld. De originele Xbmc-skin wordt voor het eerst niet meer met de software meegeleverd; de speciaal voor hdtv’s ontwikkelde variant op die skin zit wel nog standaard in het programma.

De nieuwe skin biedt gebruikers de mogelijkheid om door films en muziekalbums te bladeren, op een manier die doet denken aan Apples Coverflow-interface. Een andere verandering in 9.11 is dat de Windows-versie niet meer OpenGL maar DirectX gebruikt. Daarnaast zou de skinning-engine zijn verbeterd en worden video’s soepeler afgespeeld.

De bèta is op dit moment te downloaden voor Windows- en OS X-gebruikers; andere platforms volgen later. Xbmc is beschikbaar voor OS X, Linux, Windows en Apple TV; de Xbox-versie wordt niet meer doorontwikkeld, althans niet meer door het Xbmc-team. Het is echter aannemelijk dat andere ontwikkelaars vroeg of laat ook 9.11 naar de console van Microsoft zullen porten.

Evaluating Open Enterprise Server 2 SP2

The software you are downloading is the complete Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 SP2 product with full functionality. As you install it, you are required to accept an end user license agreement (EULA). Your rights to use the product are limited to the rights set forth in the EULA.

Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 requires activation codes for both OES 2 and SLES 10 to enable Web downloads of system patches and updates. Both activation codes are good for 60 days. (Support Pack upgrades of existing OES 2 servers do not require new activation codes.)

The codes are sent to your Novell account’s e-mail address. Be sure to print or record them for later use.

To continue receiving patches and updates after the evaluation activation codes expire, you must purchase OES 2 and configure the system with regular activation codes. SLES 10 codes are good for one year. OES 2 codes do not expire. Notifications are sent to your registered e-mail address so that you can update your annual SLES subscriptions before they expire.

Note: SLES entitlements in OES 2 have changed. For more information, refer to the End User License Agreement (EULA).

Met dit programma is het mogelijk om een of meerdere virtuele computers aan te maken, waarop een groot aantal verschillende besturingssystemen op kunnen worden geïnstalleerd. Op die manier kunnen ze naast elkaar worden gebruikt, in tegenstelling tot een dualbootopstelling waar tussen het een of het ander gekozen moet worden.
